Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! How are you all today?
Today I’m back with a review and some favourite quotes with. I’m so excited to share these with you but unfortunately this will have to wait until Sunday evening as I (stupid me) completely forgot to take my kindle with me. So it stayed in my student room. Meaning that I have no way to share these quotes with you today!
And now without further ado, let’s start!

Synopsis:
Jessie Archer is a member of the Athena Protocol, an elite organization of female spies who enact vigilante justice around the world.
Athena operatives are never supposed to shoot to killโso when Jessie canโt stop herself from pulling the trigger, she gets kicked out of the organization, right before a huge mission to take down a human trafficker in Belgrade.
Jessie needs to right her wrong and prove herself, so she starts her own investigation into the trafficking. But going rogue means she has no one to watch her back as she delves into the horrors she uncovers. Meanwhile, her former teammates have been ordered to bring her down. Jessie must face danger from all sides if sheโs to complete her missionโand survive.

I didn’t know much about this book before applying for it. The cover was eye-catching and the synopsis sounded like something that was made for me! And I’m glad that I could fit it in my busy student life. I literally screamed when I saw that I was chosen to read and review The Athena Protocol and I’m happy that I was because this book was amazing!
Jessie, our main character, is a member of a female spies group that want to save the world from all the bad going on. Kind of like James Bond, just a female one. The group she is a part of is called the Athena Protocol and they have one rule: don’t kill. Unfortunately this was kind of the problem for Jessie during one of their missions. And so they kicked her out. So what did I like?
I loved that writing style! It was so easy to get into the story and this is something that’s very important to me. My studies are already difficult as they are I don’t need to read complicated books – that are meant to be fun – as well. So I really appreciated the fact that it was easy and uncomplicated to start with this book.
The reader is also immediately thrust into the action of the book which was a lot of fun. I only finished the last season of Designated Survivor a few weeks ago and the first chapter reminded me a lot of the action scenes.
The Athena Protocol was a fast paced novel and for those that are subscribed to this blog for a while now, know that that is exactly what I need in my thriller/mystery books. I need a fast paced book because I want to race through the book to see if I’m right or not.
Another positive point is the diversity of this book. I think that there is a lot of representation in this book and I’m paying much more attention to diversity since I’m a book blogger and I’m also taking this into account while rating my books.
I couldn’t stop reading this book and I loved every single thing.
Favourite Character
Jessie
Overall, The Athena Protocol is a must-have-to-read book! You shouldn’t ignore this book as it’s amazingly written, fast-paced, has great characters and is absolutely worth your reading time! You should pick it up if you like James Bond, The Blacklist, Designated Survivor and if you’re a mystery junkie like myself.

” “Ready?” Caitlin asks. I feel a pulse of adrenaline rising through me. “I was born ready.” “

” If you’d told me I would ever work for my mother, I’d have laughed in your face. “

” ” A team is only as strong as each person in it,…” “
” If there is anything I can’t stand it’s when my mother sounds like a quote from an inspirational calendar. “
” Lost my job. Made my first kill and I wasn’t even provoked. Having the time of my life. “
“What kind of mother would send her child out to do God-knows-what for a secret spy force? Probably one with deficient maternal instincts. “

I donโt normally read books like this, I tend to stick to fantasy, but this does sound very interesting. I might pick it up despite it not being my go to genre!
Thank you for your comment! ๐ I can totally relate to that, before my blog I used to stick to 1 or 2 genres (Fantasy and Thrillers, but mostly Thrillers) but now since I have the blog I started to read other genres and I discovered books that I really love but would have never picked up in the past. So if you do pick โThe Athena Protocolโ and read it, I hope that youโll end up enjoying it ๐
Yeah I understand why youโd go to genres youโd normally not read for your blog. I donโt have much time to read in the first place, so thatโs why I tend to stick to my favourite genre. Thank you very much and have a wonderful rest of your day!
Thank you! You too ๐
Damn! This book sounds absolutely awesome! I always curse good reviews like this when I am on a bookbuying ban, welp.
The struggle is real. Iโm also on a book buying ban but some of the latest reviews Iโve read made me want to buy books. But I canโt! I donโt know how long I will be able to last without buying books ๐
