Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Where the owner is sometimes a little confused and not really up to date but who promises to do better in the future. I also hope everyone is doing okay!
In my January & February Wrap-Up I mentioned that I’ve been or should I stay still am in a huge reading slump. Therefore, I thought of doing a reading slump post where I share with you the things I do in order to get out of it. If you have any other tips then feel free to share them with me in the comments. Let’s help each other out because reading slumps are a bookworm’s worst enemy ever. I think that we can agree on this, or do you have another worst enemy?

It’s always a mystery how to start these types of posts. But I guess that there is no right or wrong way to start. So without further ado let’s start.
🔖 – #1 – watch booktube
Okay my tip number 1 is like a really simple one. Just watch booktube. It actually helps or at least makes me want to buy new books. Which is kind of bad for my wallet and for my “already out of control” TBR. But it helps me to grab a book again and read a few pages of it every single night.
My recommendations: StarlahReads, ellias, emmmabooks, jessethereader, Breakeven Books
🔖 – #2 – scroll through bookstagram
Scrolling through Instagram and especially bookstagram is another thing helping me. Seeing the amazing community talk about books and sharing their pictures with all bookworms is something I really appreciate. It also manages to help me see that other people are struggling as well. It doesn’t matter if it’s reading wise or in their private life. Furthermore, it helps me to acknowledge that I am not the only one having issues and that the world isn’t always perfect.
My recommendations: Jackn_reads, ftlobooks, shelflifechronicles, reviews_from_a_bookworm, book_nerd_gem
🔖 – #3 – listening to an audiobook
This is something for those that say that listening to an audiobook isn’t reading. Let me just say that these people are wrong! Listening to a book is reading! I’m not even accepting another point of view there *insert any emoji you prefer* It’s just that I always get angry when I hear such things because it actually helps me to get out of very bad slumps. I’m also really productive when I listen to an audiobook. And this gives me another blog post idea. See, I said that audiobooks were a good thing, didn’t I? What do you guys say about a post where I talk about the different platforms where you can listen to books?
My recommendations: Becoming by Michelle Obama, A Promised Land by Barack Obama, These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling, Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, Caraval by Stephanie Garber
🔖 – #4 – Podcasts
Now you’re probably wondering why I included podcasts. I usually listen to true crime, bookish and comedy podcasts, and they make me want to read. They have the same effect on me as audiobooks, and they are inspirational as hell.
My recommendations: Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, TED Talks Daily, Read or Dead by Book Riot, All the Books by Book Riot, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark
🔖 – #5 – rereading an old favorite
I think that this is one advice that could actually help a lot of people out there. Rereading an old fave is definitely my favorite way to get back into reading books. And it always helps!

Are any of these advices helpful to you? Please let me know in the comments below!

For me it is definitely #5, re-reading favourites. And for me reading manga/graphic novel/comics work for me as well, at least often, to get me out of a slump.
Oh yes, graphic novels and mangas are a good way to get out of a slump as well
I had a huge reading slump from late January into February, and I totally agree with all of these suggestions. Reading an old favourite or something that I’ve already seen the TV shows/ movie version of really helps me usually.
I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one where reading an old favorite helps. And I have to try your suggestion next time 🙂
Audiobooks and graphic novels helped me a lot! I can’t remember who, but someone also recommended to divide a book into 7 sections so that you’re still able to read a little bit each day of the week.
Graphic novels are a great way to get out of a slump as well! Oh, I never heard about that advice where you can divide your book into 7 sections but that sounds really great.
