Hello everyone! Today I’m back with a very (I repeat very) late Anticipated Releases post for the month of July.

Now, without further ado, let’s start!

📚 #1 – The It Girl by Ruth Ware | July 12th, 2022 | Goodreads

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of One by One returns with an unputdownable mystery following a woman on the search for answers a decade after her friend’s murder.

April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford.

Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the second, April was dead.

Now, a decade later, Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, and the man convicted of killing April, former Oxford porter John Neville, has died in prison. Relieved to have finally put the past behind her, Hannah’s world is rocked when a young journalist comes knocking and presents new evidence that Neville may have been innocent. As Hannah reconnects with old friends and delves deeper into the mystery of April’s death, she realizes that the friends she thought she knew all have something to hide…including a murder.

📚 – #2 – Never, Never by Serena Valentino | July 19th, 2022 | Goodreads

Before Peter Pan and Wendy. Before the Lost Boys. There was just a boy named James who wanted to get back to Neverland.

As a baby, James Bartholomew fell out of his pram and was taken to Neverland. James is claimed by his parents just shy of seven days―after which he would have officially become a Lost Boy. Once he returns to London, he never stops thinking about Neverland. As he grows up, he hates his life in London, and everything to do with growing up and eventually becoming a gentleman. So he seeks a position on the ship of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard.

On Blackbeard’s ship he learns to be a cutthroat pirate, and eventually becomes captain of his own ship, which James is determined to sail to Neverland. With the help of the Odd Sisters and a bit of magic, he just might get his wish. But returning to Neverland comes at a price―and now that he’s grown up, the whole world seems to be rooting for his demise…

📚 – #4 – Burying Eva Flores by Jennifer Alsever | July 8th, 2022 | Goodreads

Recovered text message between Sophia Palmer and her best friend:

Sometimes I imagine Eva melting. She is destroying everything.

Seventeen-year-old Sophia Palmer isn’t especially fond of most people on general principle, but she really hates Eva Flores. After all, Eva ruined Sophia’s life—stole her look, took away her home, and used her Tik-Tok-famous status to turn the entire school against Sophia. So when something unspeakable happens to Eva on a class trip, everyone knows: Sophia killed Eva Flores.

Eva is not the person everyone thinks she is. Sure, her posts may go for hundreds of thousands of dollars a pop, but her life is not the perfect sponsored dance video that everyone would like to believe. But how would Sophia know that? Sophia judged her from the moment Eva moved to town. She refused to like her the way everyone else did, no matter how hard Eva tried to win her over, Sophia refused to bend. In the end, it wasn’t really a choice: let the world think she was weak, or tell the world a different story about who Sophia Palmer really is.

Enter a seemingly simple gift—a blank notebook—given to Sophia by her best friend. When Sophia writes a story in it that goes on to play out in real life, she realizes immediately the power she wields. So she begins to write a new story. About two girls with opposite luck, and opposite means. About power and the people who wield it. About what happens when a switch gets flipped, and the person who has been struggling is suddenly holding all the power.

📚 – #5 – My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey | July 7th, 2022 | Goodreads

An all-new, spicy murder mystery from Tessa Bailey, New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer…

It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation in sweet, sunny Cape Cod—just me and my beloved brother—but discovering a corpse in our rental house really throws a wrench into our tanning schedule. Now a rude, crude bounty hunter has arrived on the back of his motorcycle to catch the killer and refuses to believe I can be helpful, despite countless hours of true crime podcast listening. Not to mention a fulfilling teaching career of wrangling second graders.

A brash bounty hunter and an energetic elementary schoolteacher: the murder-solving team no one asked for, but thanks to these pesky attempts on my life, we’re stuck together, come hell or high tide.

I’m just here to do a job, not babysit an amateur sleuth. Although…it is becoming less and less of a hardship to have her around. Sure, she’s stubborn, distracting and can’t stay out of harm’s way. She’s also brave and beautiful and reminds me of the home I left behind three years ago. In other words, the painful hunger and protectiveness she is waking up in me is a threat to my peace of mind. Before I sink any deeper into this dangerous attraction, I need to solve this murder and get back on the road. But will fate take her from me before I realize the road has been leading to her all along?
