Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! How are you all? I hope good.

Today, five months after the last Down the TBR Hole post I’m back with another one. I’m awful at these things, right? But never mind, here I am again.

The Down the TBR meme was created by Lia (Lost in a Story).

You’re probably wondering how this works but it’s actually pretty easy:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 or 10 books (or even more if you’re feeling motivated enough). And of course, if you’re doing this weekly you’ll start where you left off the week before.
  • Read the synopses of the books.
  • Decide: keep it or toss it!

And now without further ado, let’s do this!

Last time on my shelf – 1417
This time on my shelf – 1529 (Well that’s not surprising at all! How am I supposed to get under 1K?)

#1 – The Whole Town’s Talking by Fannie Flag – Link to Goodreads

I honestly don’t remember adding this one. And it’s the 4th book in a series so it will have to go.

Decision – GO

#2 – The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown – Link to Goodreads

I’ve read the first book but I’m not sure if I want to continue with the series. So for now it goes! Has anyone read the series? Did you like it?

Decision – GO

#3 – Inferno by Dan Brown – Link to Goodreads

Same as above.

Decision – GO

#4 – Origin by Dan Brown – Link to Goodreads

Same as above.

Decision – GO

#5 – The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson – Link to Goodreads

I need to read more by Brandon Sanderson, meaning that this stays!

Decision – KEEP

#6 – Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders – Link to Goodreads

I remember adding this one on the want-to-read shelf but I just don’t know if I’m still invested in reading it. Therefore, it will have to go.

Decision – GO

#7 – My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella – Link to Goodreads

The cover looks gorgeous and it looks like an amazing summer read but again I’m not sure if I’ll ever read it.

Decision – GO

#8 – Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman – Link to Goodreads

This is a book that is definitely going to stay on the list because I want to read it one day.

Decision – KEEP

#9 – The Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi – Link to Goodreads

There are some books on this list that I honestly don’t remember how the heck they came to be on that list.

Decision – GO

#10 – Night by Elie Wiesel – Link to Goodreads

This is a must-read so it stays.

Decision – KEEP

#11 – The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion – Link to Goodreads

This is also a book that I wanted to read for ages now. So I guess it stays.

Decision – KEEP

#12 – Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë – Link to Goodreads

I had to read some snippets in secondary school and I definitely want to read the whole book.

Decision – KEEP

#13 – What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler – Link to Goodreads

Looks intriguing enough for it to stay.

Decision – KEEP

#14 – La fille de Brooklyn by Guillaume Musso – Link to Goodreads

I already own the book, so it will stay on the list as well. Hopefully I’ll manage to read that one soon.

Decision – KEEP

#15 – L’exil des anges by Gilles Legardinier – Link to Goodreads

I love the writing style of the author, therefore this book stays as well.

Decision – KEEP

#16 – Nous étions les hommes by Gilles Legardinier – Link to Goodreads

Same as above.

Decision – KEEP

#17 – Elantris by Brandon Sanderson – Link to Goodreads

As I wanted to read more by Sanderson, I’ll keep this one as well.

Decision – KEEP

#18 – Matilda by Roald Dahl – Link to Goodreads

I’ve read this one already in high school and I don’t want to reread it so it goes.

Decision – GO

#19 – The Burning by Jane Casey – Link to Goodreads

I have no interest in this book anymore so it will have to leave.

Decision – GO

#20 – Around the Way Girl by Taraji P. Henson – Link to Goodreads

I need to read more non-fiction. It stays.

Decision – KEEP

Total number of books kept – 11
Total number of books that had to go – 9
Total number on my to-read shelf – 1520

Oh, well in the end I kept more books than I planned to keep but let’s hope that we manage to move to a reasonable amount of books that I want to read by the end of 2021. I want to have less than 1K books on that shelf. Will I be able to stop adding books? We’ll see this in the next episode.
