Synopsis:

When a heist goes terribly wrong and the binding spell holding 17-year-old Neva’s powers at bay is shattered, the half-human thief knows she’s in trouble.

Neva has always hidden her Da’Valian heritage while working risky jobs to make a name for herself and serving at her family’s tavern, but she won’t be able to hide much longer. She can either risk the safety of those she cares about or seek out her mother’s people to gain control over her emerging powers.

The Da’Valia are beautiful, brutal creatures created by the god of war, and the austere Da’Valian soldier Astiand reluctantly agrees to take Neva to his clan under his protection. She makes unexpected friends, including the handsome fighter Emiliand, and a new enemy in the clan’s ruthless leader.

Spying on her guardian, the sly heroine quickly discovers just how deep she has stumbled into a dangerous, developing clan feud.

Will she be able to embrace who she is in time to keep her loved ones safe?

Where to start? Well first of I have to say that I loved how unique the book felt. There were so many things that you’re usually not used to read in Young Adult and I was totally down for that. I loved the fact that there were horns. It’s rare that a character in YA is having horns, they’re usually vampire, witches or werewolves, so that was quite refreshing.

I’ve read this book like so fast. The first 50% were read in one day and if I wouldn’t have gotten that huge headache because I’ve read nonstop I’m pretty sure that I would have been able to read it in one sitting. Just to say how addicting this book was. The characters were well written. I even had the feeling that I was watching a movie instead of reading a book so I can’t wait for the second one to come out.

I was also a fan of the love triangle because I am a little Dramaqueen. I mean what’s a better trope than that? Besides with love triangles, my little fangirl heart always suffers a bit because I never know who might be the ONE. So I like that a lot. I also enjoyed the pace of this book.

My only problem with the book was the pronunciation of the names and that most of them were sounding similar. Sometimes I had troubles to follow or I confused characters but other than that everything was great!

Favourite quotes:

– Some said thieves were without honour, but she knew otherwise.

– His fear and disappointment was obvious to her, and she could feel it pierce her chest. She had failed him and failed her family.

– Neva couldn’t and didn’t stop a grin from creeping across her face as they fought. She felt exhilarated and determined. She was made for this.
