This
was supposed to be her happily ever after…
It’s a familiar tale: A kind and beautiful young girl, reeling from loss. A
doting father, frantic to bring a mother’s love back into his daughter’s life.
And the selfish, cruel woman who insinuates herself into that family―a woman so
unfeeling, so cold hearted, that when her new husband dies, she makes the girl
a servant in her own home.
But who is that evil stepmother, that icy lady of the house? How did she become
so closed off that, in the face of a child’s grief, she thought only to seek
wealth and power for herself and her abhorrent daughters? Before that fateful
ball, before the glass slipper and the prince, there was another story―a story
of love and grief, of hope and of dreams dashed. It is the story of Lady
Tremaine.
Even the coldest of villains are sometimes wives and mothers, women who loved
and lost and hoped for something grander for their lives . . . once upon a
dream.
The latest novel in Serena Valentino’s deliciously devious Villains series
introduces the most famed and hated wicked stepmother of them all―but turns
everything you know about her on its head.

My Review:
Where do I start? There are so many amazing things to tell about this book! By the way it got 5/5 freaking bookish stars. I would have loved to give it 10/5 because it was just that amazing! Let me stop gushing for a moment (who am I kidding?).When I got the e-mail telling me I’ve been accepted for the tour I was literally crying tears of joy. I haven’t read the other books in the villains series. (Shame on me!!) So I didn’t quite know what I should expect and I think that was a good thing to do. We should stop having high expectations of the books we’re about to read. That’s not helping. It’s just stressing us even more. Because I didn’t have any expectations whatsoever I could enjoy “Cold Hearted” quite a lot.
Cinderella has never been my favorite Disney Princess or movie. I liked it because it was quite alright but I always enjoyed watching the scenes with her stepmother and stepsisters a lot more. Why? I have no idea. I only know that I couldn’t pass this opportunity and I just had to read this story about Lady Tremaine.
I quite enjoyed the little twists here and there. Some of them I didn’t even guess and they surprised me. In a good way. I love it when the author manages to surprise me with their twists. Especially here because I thought that something else was going on and *Bam* I was wrong. So wrong!
I loved the writing style and how Serena Valentino described the Many Kingdoms. During my reading experience I had the feeling that I was myself a character in the book. Only problem: I now want a bloody spin-off movie about Lady Tremaine. Disney can you please do me this favour? Thank you very much!
This book made me rethink all of my hate for the stepmothers in the Disney universe. I know I have been terrible in the past. 6 year old Stéphanie hated the stepmothers terribly and didn’t care to know the reasons behind their actions. 25 year old Stéphanie is thinking a little bit differently and is more open-minded. Thank God for that! This novel definitely made me think and I’m glad to know that I’m not the only reader to feel like that.
Like I mentioned somewhere above I haven’t read any of the other books before. “Cold Hearted” can be read as a stand-alone. If you want to read this book but haven’t read the rest of the series, don’t you worry. You can read them in the order you want! Which is honestly so relieving. Especially when there are already a lot of books in the series.

I haven’t read any of the villians books but I really love the concept of them.
It has been the first one for me as well and it certainly won’t be the last.
