Hello everyone! Today I’m back with a review for you guys and before you say anything… Yes, I know that I’m late to the party considering that I’m so behind on the Shadowhunter series. Just let me say that this series is really intimidating as it is super long!
About the book

Clary and Jace can finally be a couple after the events of the Mortal War, and Clary wants to become a Shadowhunter. But, not everything is as it seems, and it seems that the Shadowhunters were just a little bit too relaxed. Some of them start getting murdered. This renews the tension between Downworlders and Shadowhunters. A second war is right around the corner. On top of that, Jace is also acting weird. Will Clary be able to get some answers about what’s happening to Jace and to the Shadowhunters?
It’s been a while since I’ve read any book in the Shadowhunter series. I didn’t have any trouble remembering the ending of the third book in this series. While I was in a reading slump, I didn’t think that “City of Fallen Angels” would be able to trap me in its grip. But it did! I managed to read this one very quickly and was at once absorbed in the story. Sometimes I even had the feeling of déjà vu, but as it is the first time that I’ve read this book, this simply couldn’t be it. I guess I just felt like a character in the book. That is probably why the dialogues and action scenes seemed familiar. Or it is simply due to the TV show. It could also be possible.
I just liked how we saw more of Simon. We also got Jace’s POV a few times. It was something different and very appreciated. Don’t get me wrong; I like Clary, but sometimes it’s just refreshing to get another character’s POV, especially after all hell broke loose. I’m not going into any more details. You’ll just have to read the book if you want to know what I mean. I know I’m mean.
“City of Fallen Angels” isn’t my favorite book in the series, but I did enjoy reading it, especially after that long break. For those of you following me for a while (on the old blog), you probably know that The Infernal Devices Trilogy is my favorite series in the Shadowhunter Universe, so The Mortal Instruments will have its difficulties to come close to the other series. Nevertheless, I have to say that I loved the action scenes; they were definitely epic. And that last chapter definitely gave me a major heart attack.
Now I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. By the way, I want more of Magnus (and Alec).
For those of you who have read the series, in which order are you reading them? So far, I’ve read TMI 1-3, TDI 1-3, and TMI 4. I still don’t know if I should read them in publication order. Alternatively, I could stick with the way I already started reading the books. In that case, TMI 5-6 will be next. What’s the best way? Please let me know in the comments below.
