Hello everyone! Today is a splendid day for reviews and an even better day to dust off my blogging shoes. I’ve got all the organizational skills of a squirrel on espresso, so I’m apologizing profusely for my erratic posting! In my next post, brace yourselves as I dive deeper into my chaotic life—it’s bound to be a riot! Joke’s aside but next week my monthly wrap-up is going to be published so stay tuned for that!
And now, without further ado, let’s start with “The Boyfriend” by Freida McFadden Review.
About the book:

She’s looking for the perfect man. He’s looking for the perfect victim.
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can’t shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot.
Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He’s charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet.
Then the brutal murder of a young woman―the latest in a string of deaths across the coast―confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.
Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can’t shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn’t get to the truth, she’ll be the killer’s next victim…
A dark story about obsession and the things we’ll do for love, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden proves that crimes of passion are often the bloodiest…

Review:
Sydney always strikes out when it comes to dating. But this time, she actually gets lucky! Like, jackpot lucky! This guy seems perfect. That is, until one of her friends turns up dead. Now Sydney can’t help but get suspicious about this perfect guy she’s seeing. What if she’s the next target?
This is my third book by McFadden and again I absolutely loved it. It was a freaking page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first chapter. I haven’t learned my lesson yet, though. Every time I tried to find out who the killer was, I got it wrong. This only added to the thrill of the story. It made me question my own instincts. The twists and turns were so cleverly crafted. I felt like I was part of a twisted game. With each new reveal, I found myself more engrossed. I can’t help but admire McFadden’s ability to weave such intricate plots. These plots definitely challenge my intuition.
I particularly enjoyed the flashbacks of Tom’s teenager life, as they provided a deeper insight into his character and motivations. These glimpses into his past helped in understanding the different characters surrounding him. They also enriched the overall narrative. This made the whole storyline even darker and more complex. The way these flashbacks intertwined with current events created a tangible sense of tension and anticipation throughout the book. If you haven’t been stressed by a book before, this is the one that will change that. It evokes a whirlwind of emotions. It makes you feel stressed, worried, and relieved all at the same time. The story envelops you in its gripping atmosphere. Believe me, it has been an emotional rollercoaster.
I have mentioned the flashbacks above which means that there is more than one POV in this book. We get Sydney’s side of the story. In her story, she falls in love with the stunning doctor, Tom. We also get to know Tom better thanks to the flashbacks.
“The Boyfriend” is definitely a fast-paced read. It is very addictive and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. If you start reading it, you’ll probably find yourself unable to put it down. You’ll be eager to finish it in one sitting. The unexpected plot twist made me scream in shock. I absolutely did not think of that possibility. The conclusion left me craving a second book. I feel like I didn’t get all the answers I needed to move on. Let’s just say that McFadden did it again.
